Provenance

A man by the name of Steve wrote to us and told us to come get this item from him in Boston, Massachusetts. He said he got the artifact from his father who was a guard at the Charleston State Prison in the mid 1920s. Steve told us that his father got the item from the cell of either Sacco or Vanzetti after they were executed. We were told that this artifact was used to write the last notes before they were executed. The item was a gift to the prisoners by a writer who claimed to have received it from Benito Mussolini.

Powers

The letters written with this inkwell cause serious health issues and ultimately death to the recipient. The writer remains completely harmless of any ill-effects. Steve told us that his father wrote many letters using this artifact and quite a few were written to Roosevelt during the Second World War. The father was not happy with the war and wanted it stopped. Steve learned from his father that the letters cause minor health issue at first, and then they turn terminal. We did not test any of these claims, we still use mask and gloves to handle this artifact.
